Artist Statement
My work is driven by an ongoing exploration of color, shape, and expression. As a printmaker, painter, and collage artist, I am continually fascinated by the ways in which visual elements can convey emotional depth and narrative complexity. This new body of work, which I am thrilled to present at JCM Gallery, reflects a synthesis of my experiences and creative influences—particularly my time living on the West Coast and my collaborative work with the Kewanna Printmakers, including Ellen Glasgow, Diane Tesler, and LaNelle Mason.
Living in Southern California has impacted my approach to color, as the vibrant, ever-changing landscape has left a lasting imprint on my creative vision. The natural world, in all its dynamic forms, serves as a constant source of inspiration, inviting me to experiment with color combinations and abstracted forms. I am captivated by the fluidity of nature and the way texture, and movement shape the world around us. These works are a reflection of that fascination.
Through printmaking, painting, and collage, I seek to create pieces that feel both visceral and meditative, capturing a moment of discovery or contemplation. My work embodies the complexity of both place and process, drawing from my roots in Kentucky while embracing the influences of my time spent on the West Coast and the rich, collaborative environment fostered by the Kewanna Printmakers.
I invite viewers to engage with these works not only as representations of nature and memory but as expressions of personal reflection, where color, shape, and texture converge to tell a story that is both universal and deeply individual.

Curator’s Statement
It is my very special pleasure to welcome Susan Moore back to the gallery with this exhibition of new works, in no small part because this show also coincides with her return to Kentucky after many years of living in southern California and it’s wonderful to have her back with us. This show comes at an ideal moment, as we transition into late autumn and winter here and these prints bring the warmth of California to our walls as a welcome alternative to our often monochromatic environment this time of year. I also appreciate that this show celebrates Susan’s long collaboration with other artists who have been her mentors and companions throughout her artistic journey. Our very first show with Susan (along with two other artists) back in 2008 explored this theme of inspiration and collaboration, and it’s wonderful to see this process continuing in her work over the decades.
