A STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES

We consider Broadstone Books to be not simply a press, but a community of authors and readers who support one another’s work, and we are protective of that community. To that end, there are values that we hold and that we expect those in our community to respect.

We believe that Black Lives Matter.

We support unfettered access to safe and legal abortion and reproductive health services. We believe this to be a natural right that neither derives from, nor can be taken away by any court, law, or government.

We support all in the LGBTQ+ communities and the full spectrum of gender identity.

We are in solidarity with all who struggle against the ravages of capitalism, racism, religious extremism, white supremacy, and fascism.

We believe that climate change is an existential threat to all humanity.

We believe in science, in history, and in facts.

And while we respect that reasonable people can disagree on specifics within a common set of values, we suggest that if you differ with any of these beliefs, you will be happier taking your business elsewhere.
